Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you start the film festival?
We wanted to give filmmakers, especially those from Oklahoma, an opportunity to see their films shown to a live audience without having to drive hundreds of miles.

Why do you have the word dead in your title?
As you can see in the title the word dead is in all lower case letters and the word CENTER in all caps. We are trying to deemphasize the word dead. deadcenter is all one word
meaning the center point or where all things come togehter. So what appears at first glance to have a morbid meaning is just quite the oppostie.

Why did you move to Edmond for this year's event?
We moved to Edmond because of their stong support of the arts. We also wanted a central location to Oklahoma City. Our hopes are that the festival becomes an annual event in Edmond. So this move will be the last!

Can the public attend the after parties?
Yes, Film Festivals are about having fun and we want everyone to have fun at
the deadCENTER Film Festival, not just the filmmakers. Come meet the next rising stars in the films industry by attending one of the after parties. Friday's party will take place at Vandy's inside the Ramada Plaza Inn. The final (and big bash) will take place at the UCO Jazz Lab. Both parties start at 10:30pm and run until 2:00pm.
Always have a designated driver!

Can I buy tickets at the door?
Yes, in fact, if you want individual section passes they are only sold at the door. The All Access Pass is the only ticket sold prior to the show.

Will there be food at the film festival?
Yes, Cool Concessions will be providing the food for the event. They will offer Onion Burgers, Frito Chili Pie, Hot Dogs, Popcorn, frozen treats and drinks.

What is your connection with film?
Justan Floyd, artistic director, has been a filmmaker for over seven years and has worked on crews that have produced over 10 short films. He currently works in the Oklahoma City market as a Director of Photography.

Will the festival ever become something as large as South by Southwest or Sundance Film Festival?
We certainly hope so! We want to create an event that will draw not only Oklahomans but people from around the U.S and the world. We are excited about the direction of filmmaking in Oklahoma and we think the deadCENTER Film Festival helps stengthen this market.
